Tours, events, workshops, salon exhibitions and performances will take place at East Street Arts' studio spaces in Leeds including Patrick Studios (Mabgate), Barkston House (Holbeck), and Union105 (Chapeltown) across the Open Studios weekend of 19&20 October.
Visitors are given the opportunity to meet artists in their workspaces and catch a glimpse of some of the most creative environments in the city. Painters, sculptors, designers, filmmakers, performers, ceramicists, illustrators, writers, tailors, photographers, and digital artists all feature in our members' programme.
Highlights include: a group show curated by Mexico at Union 105, salon exhibitions at Barkston House & Patrick Studios throughout the weekend, a ceramics workshop at East Street Arts' new custom-built kiln facility in Holbeck (19th), performances by Carrieanne Vivianette at various sites (19th & 20th), and a book launch at Patrick Studios for Ralph Dartford's poetry collection âCigarettes, Beer and Love' featuring a DJ soundtrack by Matt Abbott and live music from a very special guest on Sunday 20th.
International artists FrenchMottershead are also artists-in-residence at Barkston House throughout October; visitors can find out more about their latest participatory projects or even get involved themselves.
The official launch event for Open Studios 2013 takes place at Barkston House on Friday 18th, guests are encourage to bring a vinyl 45 along for DJ33/45 who will be manning the decks. Drinks will be served.
NB: A free shuttle bus will run between venues in Leeds on Saturday and Sunday, departing from Patrick Studios at 1pm, 2:30pm, and 4pm
