One Eye Opens Another uses the alchemical transformation of materials as a jumping off point to explore materiality, process, and the almost shamanistic making and unmaking of sculpture.
About
Alchemy is a process of transformation that imbues material with value. Straw
into gold. “Nothing” into “something.” Trash into commodity. At the same time,
the alchemist’s careful work and attention produces spiritual transformation.
One Eye Opens Another uses this alchemical transformation as a jumping off point
to explore materiality, process, and the almost shamanistic making and unmaking
of sculpture. What if value was placed on the journey rather than the product?
Knowledge is not an end goal but a gathering, formed in the liminal spaces
between success and failure. Each artist explores the definition and
transformation of sculpture into "something else.” This circular process may be
infinite and without limits.
