B-house Art Company presents ONE BOX show, a collaborative installation of Irene Pouliassi and Ehsan Mehrbakhsh at Spinoff Gallery, Millan, Italy.
About
Nike shoes, teeth, breast implants, hair extensions. These are just some of Irene's Pouliassi material of choice for her fetishal sculptural compositions. Works posing as relics of religious venerations, are presented as a subconscious extension of today's human status : They bring into light physical and aesthetic frailty, compensated for through industrial production.
If a fetish embodies a magical power, if it has healing, divinatory and auspicious properties, in contemporary society it is founded on consumerism and materialism. An additional skin layer imbued with the present subconscious status quo. Fuelled by the rise of capitalism and the fanatical desensitisation, are objects that we chose to larp into a constructed identity biased by the needs pf our era. As Irene describes them :'second-hand entities rebuilt into totems of defiance and emancipated symbols of power.
Ehsan Mehrbakhsh, is taking us into the world of his illustrations creating a place where man, chronicles, emotions and the psyche are mixed in breeding chimeric entities. Starting off his aesthetic will animate Irene's sculpture into a character illustration.B-house Art Company & Modula Cultural Association
