'On the Hoof' - Speculation in Unimagined Space.
A performance lecture by Forster & Heighes

About

'On the Hoof' - Speculation in Unimagined Space is a performance companion to their most recent installation Trig Point 51.4134° N, 00.2115° W (Wimbledon Space, 3 -25 February) and draws on a series of anecdotal waypoints plotted over nearly thirty years of peripatetic ad-hoc research and compositional practice.

In its first iteration 'On the Hoof' explores the relationship between primary and ancillary space within the creative institution - between studio and store-room, laboratory and boiler house, workshop and water tower. Using film, field notes, 'mocked-up' construction techniques and a pair of antique Gunter's chains, Forster & Heighes begin to mark out the unimagined boundaries of a new model of creative provision; a geomantic prospectus for the material and spatial resourcing of the contemporary creative academy.

This event launches the Performance Platform.

The Performance Platform is designed to advance and promote public engagement with performance through a series of lectures, workshops, masterclasses and symposia. It provides opportunities for students, staff, industry and members of the general public to explore our ambitious performance agenda, enabling us to deepen our understanding of the challenges and demands of making performance in an arts school environment.

The Performance Platform aims to raise the profile of performance across Camberwell College of Arts, Chelsea College of Arts and Wimbledon College of Arts whilst providing points of entry to contemporary performance debates and practice. The events reflect our wide-ranging engagements with performance partners and practitioners, and offer a public intellectual platform for examining contemporary theatre and performance-making.
