About
With a career spanning more than 20 years, photographer Richard Heeps' highly evocative pictorial structures demonstrate an empathy for the subject and his distinctive style pushes the limits of lens based photography. With a subject matter that encompasses domestic interiors, landscape and places of industry, Heeps' diverse practice utilises highly- saturated colours and encourages public engagement.
Old England is about looking back with a new resonance, however the artist is quick to point out his work is not about nostalgia. Heeps' images are not re-creations of the past, they are the past immortalised on film. There is an overwhelming sense of history and enduring values in the images of Old England and a timeless beauty that records rather than glamorises the subject.
Heeps' work has been published in four publications, the most recent being 'Man's Ruin' and 'Rolled Out'.
Light House will be exhibiting The New Lantern by Richard Heeps from 8th April- 4th June. For more information visit www.light-house.co.uk
