An exhibition celebrating photography from Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia

About

RSVP to the private view and awards ceremony Thu 11 Oct, 6 – 9pm here.

2018’s New East Photo Prize exhibition showcases selected work by the finalists nominated for the second edition of the New East Photo Prize.

A Calvert 22 Foundation initiative supported by The Calvert Journal, the Prize champions contemporary perspectives on the people and countries of the New East – Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Russia and Central Asia – welcoming the work of professional and non-professional photographers alike.

The biennial prize received over 600 entries this year from 26 New East countries. With a diverse range of works reflecting a spectrum of approaches and topics, the 2018 New East Photo Prize is a unique glimpse into the self-identity of an underrepresented region and the lives of its people.

The judging panel includes Deputy Head of Photography at The Guardian Joanna Ruck, Creative Director of Calvert 22 Foundation Ekow Eshun, leading documentary photographer and educator Tomasz Kulbowski, and Founder and Artistic Director of Organ Vida—International Photography Festival Marina Paulenka,  amongst others.
