About

Exhibition statement:

"The exhibition theme is about our relationship with technology as a global society and how it affects us as individuals.
This contradiction turns into an excess of images, texts and information that we are not able to assume.

Everything goes too fast and people try to grab what they can from the internet to be part of something without questioning it. The saturation makes anxious characters on my large paintings and chaotic scenes that i try to balance with the composition & techniques of the traditional painter.
On the other hand when paintings are on a small scale, i paint about the solitude and slave to social media affect to us."

Artist Bio:

He studied fine arts at Universitat de Barcelona. He has participated in art exhibitions in Brussels, Dublin, Glasgow, Andorra, Madrid and Barcelona. The last exhibition took place at Aprestadora Gallery and the Hospitalet of Llobregat’s municipality sponsored it. Also he has collaborated with Carmen Thyssen’s Museum in Andorra, where he donated one of his pieces for a charitable cause.

Acosta’s painting is expressive, visceral, and with solid impastos. It focus on the new trends born thanks to the social media. What is more, he likes to combine mixed media in a same painting such as: spray, oil, acrylic, collage, and latex with pigment.

His works talk about our relationship with technology and the borders between virtual and real. Also they remember us that, although we can reach a global knowledge, our limitations prevent us to understand the speed of the contemporary world. Moreover in his paintings we can find a lot of literature references, like characters, words, illustrations, draws and poems that represent the soul of each book. In those kind of pieces the painting ends erasing all of the references to shows us one final image.
