In the late 60s and early 70s, with the help of psychedelic exploration, Neil's work exploded into colour and detail.
About
Opening Night:
Thursday 3rd October, 6pm-8pm
Neil's work over the fifty years from the 1960s to 2015 was prolific. In the early 60s his artwork, which was influenced by Pop Art, was exhibited in galleries throughout Suffolk.
“I worked in the 70’s and 80’s as a freelance graphic designer. Much of this work was in the music industry. Clients ranged from Mötorhead to Paul McCartney and Stomu Yamashta’s Red Buddha Theatre. My designs included murals, posters and logos as well as commercial and domestic interiors and furniture."
The 1980s saw a move to North Norfolk. With a small family and no car life was slower. The woodlands and countryside were a great influence, as were the early 20th century illustrators and cartoonists such as Rackham and Dulac. In the thirty years working in Norfolk, Neil's work evolved from fine art illustrations using glazes of acrylic to expressionistic abstract landscapes, culminating in explorations of colour in mixed media.
