In a contemporary version of the Surrealists’ café game of ‘Exquisite Corpse’, or visual consequences, ten artists from Singapore & the United Kingdom present collaborative films, performances, installations, texts, collage & photography created across the Internet.
About
What happens when artists work collaboratively? – what changes in their practice and in their ways of thinking about making art? Ten artists, five from Singapore and five from the United Kingdom join together to create five duo projects, in a 21st Century remake of the Surrealists’ game of ‘Exquisite Corpse’. While some of the pairs knew each other before the start of the project, others met for the first time – and some of these may never even meet face to face. All of the five collaborations have this element in common: they have all been devised and predominantly created in virtual reality – by Skype, email, IM messaging or video file sharing, produced in separate rooms and studios across cities and continents.
The resulting films, performance, text, photo-montage and installations will be shown at ‘Mysterious Objects at Noon’ at ArtLacuna from 29/10/15 - 1/11/15
