From March 20th. "Exhibition of the week" (York Press). There are works that relate to cinema and other media but also many which interpret ‘Moving’ in other ways.
About
Begins 20th March, ends 15th April 2022.
The show interprets the theme in various ways through drawing, painting, collage, photography, poetry and sculpture. Showing at City Screen Picturehouse, 13-17 Coney Street, York YO1 9QL from 10.30 am every day till the last film ends. Part One is in the ground floor cafe and Part Two upstairs in the Gallery.
Navigators Art is a group of local creatives set up in 2019 by MA students at York St John University. Two postgraduates, Steve Beadle and Richard Kitchen, went on to work at The Malthouse studios and 23 Piccadilly gallery, where they exhibited as part of a collective and initiated community engagements such as mentoring young emerging artists.
The redevelopment of Piccadilly last December meant that Richard lost his place in this year’s York Open Studios, but it prompted the team to resurrect Navigators as a channel for making and showing work. For their first post-lockdown project ‘Moving Pictures’ they have invited fellow artist and teacher Timothy Morrison to join them. 'The pictures can't move’, he says, ‘but our eyes and thoughts can'.
