An exploration into the Japanese tradition of welcoming Spring.
About
On the 28th February, artist Alice Tye shall host a Private Viewing of her solo exhibition ‘Mono No Aware’ – an exploration into the Japanese tradition of welcoming Spring.
Alice portrays the ethereal appearance of the cherry blossom and the transient beauty of flowers sprawling across the urban cityscapes of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto inspired by her visit to Japan in Spring 2017.
The title, which translates as ‘the pathos of things’, is a Japanese phrase for the awareness and appreciation of the impermanence of life and the idea that our appreciation of beauty can be heightened by our awareness of its transiency.
The exhibition will be held in Mother London’s spacious event space – Downstairs At Mother (10 Redchurch Street E2 7DD)
