Join us for a tour of Modern Couples, taking you through a historic journey from the turn of the 19th century through to the 1940s.

About

The tour will take visitors through a historic journey from Paris at the turn of the 19th century to New York’s queer space of Fire Island in the 1940s. Mels will focus on the life and work of Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin; Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera; Paul Cadmus, Jared French and Margaret French; Lavinia Schulz and Walter Holdt; and more. Discussing the diverse practices of these couples the tour will elaborate on the exhibition making process that brought their work together here in the gallery.
