For this exhibition Kawai exhibits black oil stick paintings that capture the spontaneity and inventiveness of her doodles and drawings. A colorful installation featuring giant wall paintings will set the “early man” stage and some new painted furniture of big bones, lions and tigers will outfit the space.
This exhibition is her first full show after presenting works with V1 Gallery in Basel and Denmark, Salon 94 in New York, Dio Horia in Greece, and with us at Art Cologne this past April. Her last body of work, colorful product paintings, was exhibited by Eric Firestone in his East Hampton gallery and at NADA NY last year. Kawai has exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world, and has recently made a series of affordable artwork products with Flying Tiger Copenhagen.
