In MIRRORS AND TRUTHS, the exhibition dialog between the Italian photographer Roberto Kustetle (1948) and the Belgian artist Daniel Pelletti (1948), we step into a realm rich of the destabilizing effect of the intimacy of disorder, fantasy and imagination.

About

If sometimes strangeness challenges the viewer, it is above all because we humans do not deal well with destabilizing worlds. Even when we approach art, we hope to be accompanied in universes of classic beauty, as in fashion and advertising. Instead, in MIRRORS AND TRUTHS, the exhibition dialog between the Italian photographer Roberto Kustetle (1948) and the Belgian artist Daniel Pelletti (1948), we step into a realm rich of the destabilizing effect of the intimacy of disorder, fantasy and imagination.

Strongly influenced by the unsettling disproportions of Mannerism compositions, the black and white photographs of Roberto Kusterle as well as the colorful paintings and drawings of Daniel Pelletti unveil fascinating views on unpleasant beauties at the opposite end of our world. Unconscious of the viewer look, the creatures of Kusterle’s and Pelletti’s reveal themselves, bewitching the observed with just a glimpse of their own reality.
Entangled bodies, nudity, lost and forgotten pieces of architecture, offer themselves to the viewer as they would be dancing and moving at lightning of candlelight. Nothing is ever stable, classical or even reassuring.
The skillful use of patterns and textures that both of these artists brilliantly - and yet so differently - master in their work, while helping to enhance the destabilizing feeling in the viewer, at the same time emphasized the inner sacredness of the composition, where the human psychology and existentialism reveal themselves as the actual protagonists of the show. Each work included in this exhibition turns out to become a sort of contemporary cabinets of curiosities reflecting the human desire to decipher the world, and its by-product fantasy or psychological realities, by allowing the viewer to explore attentively the details of each single artwork.
