Brian will be working on a drawing. He will be happy to speak to visitors about his work and the exhibition Expressions of the Human Form.
Brian Fletcher lives In Stourbridge . He is an elected member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Birmingham Art Circle, Dudley Society of Artists and Vice President of the Easel Club. He works in many media, but his great passion is for large scale works in luscious, thick impasto oil paint and large landscape, portrait and figure graphite drawings. The rugged industrial scenery of the Black Country inspires much of his work as well British mountain scenery. He has exhibited widely, both locally and nationally and received a number of awards. Most recently in 2009 he had work exhibited in London with the Royal Society of British Artists, was awarded the major prize in the 2009 RBSA Members and Associates exhibition and had two works selected for the 2010 Birmingham Open exhibition. His work is held in the permanent collections of Shropshire County Council, Dudley Art Gallery and the RBSA. Statements by two artists reflect and express his particular passions as a painter - `Remember that a painting before becoming a favourite theme, a nude or a specific anecdote is just a flat surface covered with colours in a certain order.` - Maurice Denis. ‘I look at nature and write my own song about it.` - Ivon Hitchens.
