Join textile and print designer Laura Slater for a two-day screen printing workshop based at The Hepworth Wakefield and The Art House, Wakefield.

Following on from Laura's popular masterclass in 2016, this workshop focuses on the screen-printing process in relation to garment design. The session will start by exploring the gallery spaces and capturing inspiration from the works on show through a range of experimental drawing techniques.

From this you will create a two-colour design suitable for printing onto a T-Shirt. We will head to the Art House Print Studio where the Screen Printing Process will happen. You will learn how to create a photographic stencil on silk-screen, mix colour and ink, and screen print to textiles.

Half of the allocated places are offered to Members at the discounted rate of 25% off, sold on a first come, first served basis. Become a Member

Book your place online or if you have any questions or special requirements then don't hesitate to get in touch by emailing or calling 01924 247398.

This session is suitable for beginner to intermediate level.

This session will be messy, please bring old cloths and aprons where needed.

You may be required at stages of the session to work with other people in pairs or in a group.

By the end of the two-day session you will have produced a range of drawings and design developments for a T-shirt design, silkscreen printed a T-Shirt with your own design on it, along with a tote bag and print on paper. All materials will be provided, but if you would like to bring your own cotton garment to print on please contact us in advance to check its suitability.

Laura Slater’s Design Studio was established in West Yorkshire after graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2007. Informed by the interaction of colour and shape, her design focuses on the translation of drawing and surface through hand printed processes. Her specific interests lie in engagement with pattern and its ability to connect us to the environments around us.
