First solo retrospective of work by 85 year old artist Martin Davison
About
Martin grew up in Worcestershire and Pembrokeshire, the source of some of his reminiscent paintings, but has lived for almost 50 years in Mortlake, where he has his studio and workshop.
Davison enjoys being perpetually explorative and has spent his life making and inventing things: architectural models, furniture, sculpture, paintings and drawings, newly invented toys and board games and fabric designs.
He has hopes that this exhibition might stimulate changes in the ways we look at the world. The works themselves show Davison’s constantly changing techniques and styles, choices of multiple mixed-media and subject matter – from a tiny agave seedpod to interstellar space.
These works respond to the present moment rather than the past.
