Known for his documentary practice, acclaimed artist and filmmaker Mark Boulos is joined by editor Matthew Schum to mark the publication of his first monograph and celebrate his contribution to visual arts.
About
“My videos are about militancy and ecstasy: revolutions and terrorists, miracles and saints. The characters in my films wrestle their agency from the structures that would control them, including language, reason, gender, God, capital, and the state.” – Mark Boulos
Published by Hatje Cantz, the monograph is the culmination of a relationship that began in 2012 when Forma Arts commissioned and produced Echo, a large-scale, experimental and technologically-pioneering video installation. A book signing will follow the screening. The monograph will be available at a very special launch price for this evening only.
The evening will include a screening of selected film works by the artist, followed by an open conversation between the artist and curator Matthew Schum.
