A thought-provoking series of presentations to accompany Listening, the Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition at Art Exchange and Firstsite. Curated by Sam Belinfante, the exhibition examines the crossover between the visual and the sonic.
The symposium brings together artists, curators and academics to draw out key themes explored within the exhibition, and further interrogate the act of listening. Speakers (alphabetical):
Sam Belinfante

Mikhail Karikis

Joseph Kohlmaier
Senior lecturer in the history and theory of architecture at the Cass School of Architecture and is creative director of choral ensemble Musarc. He teaches a diploma module on sound, architecture and the city.

Cathy Lane
Composer, sound artist and academic, whose work uses spoken word, field recordings and archive material to explore aspects of our listening relationship with each other and the world around us.
