Listen Up! 2nd Annual World Listening Day Sound Walks +Technical Demonstrations + Sonic Diffusions + Audi Screening Tottenham Marshes and SoundFjord Sonic Art Gallery SUNDAY 17 July 2011 | From 8am to late | FREE EVENTS (Donations welcome) Essential RSVP Morning 8am - 10am: Just Listening! Bird Survey around Tottenham marshes lead my David Chapman and David Cottridge. Identifying bird through sight and sound. 10:15am-11:30am: Listening through a Mechanical Ear Investigation of moth traps, pond life and bird feeder mics. 11:30am-12:30pm: Coffee and Contemplation Quiet time to take in the soundscape of the local environment. Refreshments available. Afternoon 3pm-4:30pm: Sound Diffusions Martin Clarke performs a sonic diffusion over 8.0 with soundscapes/phonographic material from as far afield as Shetland, Beirut, Le Mans and London. Emmanuel Spinelli performs Bregenz by Cycle, also in 8.0, focusing on a city of duel personality, bringing out its essence and peculiarities. 4:45pm-6:45pm: Wonders of the Sound World A screening of sound art and phonography curated to open your ears to sonic wonders: a host of unusual, foreign, latent, micro/macroscopic (sub- and ultrasonic) soundscapes with be presented to delight, surprise and insight your curiosity. 6:45pm-7:30pm: Earbreak Time to contemplate the active listening event over a glass of wine. Refreshments and snacks will be available at SoundFjord. Evening 9pm start: Beyond the Threshold Ian Rawes of the London Sound Survey and David Chapman (sound artist) and David Cottridge (photographer/naturalist) lead a bat walk around the marshes, beginning at the cloak of twilight. We will hunt for local beauties - Pipistrelle species, Daubentons, and Noctules, as well as the local insect activity on which they feed.
