The first joint exhibition of paintings by a father and his two daughters - Peter Hicks, Beverley Hicks and Lesley Hicks.
"In Yorkshire, the name Peter Hicks is synonymous with paintings of the Yorkshire Moors. His sweeping landscapes of the moors in all weathers describe and explore the fall of light and cloud-shadow over immense rolling distances."
- Jenny Perry, The Elemental North, Messum's, Cork Street
Peter attended Scarborough School of Art and Middlesbrough College of Art in 1956. He completed an M.A. in Fine Art at the University of Northumbria and has shown his work extensively. Arguably the foremost landscape painter of North Yorkshire, his work has been featured on a number of BBC, ITV and independent television broadcasts.
Lesley studied Fine Art at Newcastle University (1982-86) and later at the Royal Academy Schools in London (1986-89) where she won the Richard Ford Travel Award to Madrid (1989).
She was awarded Northern Arts travel bursaries to Hungary (1991) and Turkey (1995) and worked for the British Council at the Venice Biennale in 1993.
Lesley is currently an associate senior lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Teesside.
Beverley completed a B.A. and an M.A. in Fine Art at Newcastle University. In 1989 she was awarded the Bartlett Travel scholarship which enabled her to travel extensively throughout Australia.
She now paints and teaches art in the Yorkshire Dales.
