“LIGHT”: Astronomy inspired art by Tina Mammoser
About
Proud to celebrate our first year as Scarborough's tiniest gallery, Grejczik Gallery the micro art/science gallery is featuring brand new work by our resident American-British artist/owner Tina Mammoser.
Tina MAMMOSER's latest series of paintings explores wavelengths of light and how they represent colour. Her minimalist but atmospheric artworks explore colours using the H-R Diagram of star spectrums, but take on the challenge of painting light with paint.
“Being an artist with a science background I know that light and pigment actual give us a sensation of colour in entirely different technical ways, but that is the exciting challenge to me. To achieve something like the glow of stars from a painted surface.”
She achieves the starlight through her almost watercolour-like layering of colours on the canvas.
The artist will be in person to chat to visitors throughout the exhibition, plus as an extra treat we'll have binoculars with solar film set-up for potential sun-spot viewing during the show. (weather-dependent, of course)
Grejczik Gallery shares art by artists who think science is cool! We curate 5-6 exhibitions a year to showcase different artists and makers inspired by or working with science ideas.
