An exhibition of lino prints, paintings and contemporary quilts by Maria Harryman, at Gallery 5, West Berkshire Museum, Newbury.
About
Maria Harryman is a Wiltshire based artist whose current work finds inspiration inflorilegium, books dating back to medieval times which recorded the plants of aparticular place or garden. In this exhibition her specific place of interest is theKennet & Avon Canal.
Starting in March as older nature-based calendars did, the work will be curated working around the gallery walls through the months and seasons, depicting the wild plants growing in the reedbeds and hedgerows. Sketchbooks and printmaking tools showing her artistic process will also be on display.
This will be the first time the complete body of work will be shown together and isaccompanied by a booklet of illustrated pen portraits describing wider aspects of lifefrom the towpath.
All artworks are for sale. Prints and a booklet to accompany the exhibition will be available through the museum shop.
