Lesley paints her way from the English countryside to Spain and far flung Sri Lanka, highlighting along the way the artistry in human activity. Central to this are the dancers of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, whose poise and vigour reflect essential qualities in Lesley’s art.

“Over this two-year period, when most of the work in this exhibition has been done, I have also been struck more and more by the complexities and subtleties of the English landscape. A couple of days ago, I went for a walk with some friends from where we live across the fields to Wimple Hall. Some of the fields are being harvested, and so the colours and textures within them are changing from day to day. One green field had long shadows cast over it by tall trees, deep blue shadows, and we stopped to look at them they were so striking and unexpected. I hope I never stop being amazed”
