Youmbi makes use of an iconographically hybrid formal language and a wide range of media to reflect on the situation on the African continent in the (post-)colonial age.
For the 2017 Skulptur Projekte he has installed eight masks at a height of ten metres on the Überwasserfriedhof cemetery, which is no longer in use. The masks reference Western-capitalist pop cultural motifs as well as animistic objects from Cameroon.
