"Some atmospheric meditations. Or of air and water. Or of the relationship between air and the measurement of time. Or let’s talk about the weather. In chronological order" is an account of my latest body of work where I grapple with the possibilities or visualizing the atmospheric conditions of a given site. It is also an occasion to celebrate the launching of an artist book that accompanies the project.
Laura F. Gibellini is a process-based artist working between Madrid and NY, where she teaches in the MFA in Art Practice at the School of Visual Arts. Gibellini has been a fellow at the Spanish Academy in Rome (2016-17) and an artist in residence at The Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity (Canada, 2017) at the ISCP (NYC, 2011), The Aldrich Foundation (Connecticut, 2010) or at the Künstlerhaus Glogauer (Berlín, 2007). Gibellini has presented her work in venues such as Matadero (Madrid); CCCB/Centre for Contemporary Culture (Barcelona); el Museo de Los Sures (NYC); the Fine Arts Academy (Rome); Carpe Díem--Arte e Pesquisa (Lisbon); the Boston Center for the Arts (Boston); Anthology Films Archives (NYC); Artist Space (NYC); La Casa Encendida (Madrid); AC Institute (NYC); Slowtrack (Madrid) o Vacío 9 (Madrid). In 2013 she completed DOM (Variations) her first permanent public art project in New York City.
