This exhibition of contemporary art showcases six artists; Sandra Hoeft, Sally Holman Liz Hough, Simon Nash, Jacqui Porter and Viviana Riccelli, who all live far apart but who have bonded through their love of painting, drawing and abstracting from nature.
About
Whilst the work of the six artists is individual and different, two key influences can be seen in their work. The first is the influence of Italy where all of the artists have spent time, either in Tuscany or Umbria. The second influence is Cornwall – and in particular, St Ives where two of the artists live.
Most of the group have connections with the St Ives Painting School and three recently attended the one-year Porthmeor Programme. They first had the idea of putting together this group show and were delighted when Liz Hough – who teaches at the St Ives Painting School - agreed to join them. And whilst Viviana Riccelli cannot physically be in Oxford for the exhibition, she is very present through her work.
