The Koestler Trust, the UK's best known prison arts charity, is to open a Pop-Up shop of art submitted to its annual awards scheme. The shop will run in conjunction with the trust's 2013 national exhibition at the Southbank Centre, The Strength & Vulnerability Bunker, curated by Speech Debelle. It will be open for the final week of the exhibition run — from Saturday 23 November to Sunday 1 December - giving members of the public a further chance to purchase original artworks from within prisons and secure settings. The Koestler Trust sells artwork where both the entrant and the establishment have given their permission. Artists can specify a minimum amount they would like to receive, and most works sell for around £30-£100. The money raised from each artwork is split between the artist, The Koestler Trust and Victim Support. A selection of artworks will be for sale from over 7,000 entries to the 2013 Koestler Awards. This will include paintings, drawings, ceramics, textiles and woodwork. With over 300 diverse works of art to choose from, the Koestler Pop-Up Art Shop is the perfect place to pick up some unusual and unique Christmas presents. Shoppers who bring a copy of the listing to the shop will be eligible for a 10% discount.
