Stafford Gallery in association with Wimbledon Fine Art are privileged to present two Scottish painters following in the long line of Scottish artists who display an inherited understanding of colour, so celebrated by the Scottish Colourists a century before.
About
Kirsty Wither's paintings are colourful and joyous representations of the summer flowers and the Sussex land and seascapes that surround her home. An admirer of Sir Robin Philipson and Joan Eardley for their expessive brushwork. Like her personality, Kirsty's paintings are exuberant, building up texture with a palette knife, the subject gradually being revealed.
Euan McGregor, in contrast, are wonderfully constructed landscapes. He is inspired and fascinated by architectural features in the landscape, many will be familiar with his series of London lidos, lighthouses, Scottish Whisky distilleries and harbours. His paintings are constructed with stencil-like structures set in painterley landscapes. He fuses the influence of Ivon Hitchens with his Scottish inheritance.
