ABOUT THE ARTIST

Wakefield-born Matt Abbott is a rising star on the UK's flourishing spoken word scene. Having received 5* reviews for his 2015 Edinburgh Fringe show Matt Abbott is Skint & Demoralised, he returns to the festival this summer with a full run of Two Little Ducks at Underbelly Cowgate. He fuses socio-political commentary with kitchen sink realism, and presents his work in a uniquely engaging and accessible manner.

After touring the UK with acts including Paul Weller, Sleaford Mods, Ken Loach and Sara Pascoe last year, and also starring in Nationwide Building Society's national TV ad campaign, Matt Abbott is well on his way to establishing himself amongst the leading generation of contemporary poets. In 2013 he co-founded A Firm Of Poets, and in 2015 he formed spoken word record label Nymphs & Thugs.
