”When I started to work on the exhibition I was fascinated by photographs of space taken with the help of radio telescopes, and illustrative images of space with the text “an artist’s view” as well as various stage lights and sets. In my mind, the light-absorbing matt black on the edge of theatre stages and the bright spotlights began, in a strange way, to intertwine with the infinite darkness of space and the stars occasionally lighting it up.

When we look up into the starry sky, we look into the past. Radio telescopes make it possible to see faraway galaxies as they were billions of years ago. The majority of the universe is believed to be dark matter. Even though it cannot be seen, there is evidence of its existence. In other words, our view of reality based on observations is very limited. I am very fascinated by the thought of seeing into the past and matter imperceptible to human senses.

Thoughts of space and stages affect me in the background but my paintings are created on the terms of painting, freely and intuitively. The content of my paintings is ultimately linked to the painting process.

Wirbel, Flüstern und Quellen

"Als ich anfing, an der Ausstellung zu arbeiten, faszinierten mich Aufnahmen des Weltalls von einem Radioteleskop aus, Illustrationen des Alls, bezeichnet mit "an artist‘s view", als auch Bühnenscheinwerfer und -Sets. In meinem Kopf verschmolzen auf wundersame Weise das lichtschluckende Mattschwarz am Rand der Theaterbühne und das helle Scheinwerferlicht mit der endlosen Dunkelheit des Weltraums und den gelegentlich aufblinkenden Sternen.

Wenn wir zum Sternenhimmel aufschauen, blicken wir in die Vergangenheit. Radioteleskope ermöglichen es, weit entfernte Galaxien so zu sehen wie sie vor Milliarden Jahren waren. Man nimmt an, dass der Großteil des Universums aus dunkler Materie besteht. Obwohl man sie nicht sehen kann, gibt es Belege für ihre Existenz. Das heißt, unsere - auf Beobachtung beruhende - Sicht der Realität ist stark beschränkt. Mich fesseln die Vorstellung, in die Vergangenheit sehen zu können, und das Wissen um diese für uns Menschen unsichtbare Materie.

Gedanken über den Weltraum und Bühnen inspirierten mich, doch meine Bilder entstanden durch einen freien und intuitiven Malstil. Und Malprozess und der Inhalt der Bilder sind letztlich aneinander gekoppelt.
