Kamilla Bischof (*1986 Graz, lives in Berlin) pursues narrative strategies in her artistic practice: Abstract, colorful scenarios with people, gods, animals but also phantastic creatures as protagonists form the subject of the large-format paintings by the Austrian artist.

About

Often they have a combinatorial habitus in common reminiscent of movable set pieces. The symbolic character of Bischof’s figures pointedly provokes the collective visual memory of her audience and oscillates between machine-like states and aristocratic attitudes. The illustrated narrations are often complemented by especially composed prose texts and will be mounted in backdrop-like installations in the exhibition. With her compositions, Bischof develops a steadily growing repertoire of recurring motifs in the categories everyday object and interior, such as cocktail cherries, cowboy boots or screwdrivers.
