About
Ceramics are hot these days and not only when they’re fresh from the kiln.
Brutto Gusto has been exhibiting and promoting ceramics and contemporary crafts for more than twenty-five years and is proud to represent a distinguished group of world-class artists.
‘K wie Keramik’ brings together makers who are exploring the borders between contemporary crafts and sculpture. They include Heidi Kippenberg and Barbara Stehr, who were pioneers in the 1970s and 1980; Guido Geelen, Gustavo Perez Delgado, Sebastian Scheid, Martin Scholtz, Johanna Schweizer, Willem Speekenbrink and Robin Winters, who signalled future directions at the turn of the century; and Carolein Smit, Morten Løbner Espersen and Johannes Nagel, who currently occupy the hottest positions in ceramics.
__________
"Now that so many artists have returned to ceramics and glass, Brutto Gusto has shown us the way, firstly in Rotterdam and for almost ten years in Berlin. Many insiders – and new arrivals – have turned to Brutto Gusto to find out about the recent past and present of these difficult disciplines and materials. And Geer Pouls doesn’t shy away from commissioning visual artists to experiment with these techniques. Crafts only? No, Brutto Gusto is a pioneer of the arts and demonstrates a level of knowledge and instinct possessed by only a few".
