Open Space Galleries in Penryn is featuring an exciting mixed show of abstract and figurative work from their gallery artists this month. Artists include Jamie Boyd, Elisa McLeod and Carol Hosking-Smith and feature two new artists to the gallery Jorunn Mulen and Carl Melegari.
Jorunn Mulen was born in Norway and graduated from Falmouth College of Art with a MA in Illustration in 2005. Her figurative work is thoughtful, deeply personal, beautiful and intriguing and has a haunting and mysterious quality.
Born in North Wales of Italian parentage Carl Melegari's approach to painting explores both the physical form and the urban landscape. He often uses a muted palette to replicate a sense of isolation and seclusion and then applies paint liberally and without reserve allowing it to drip spontaneously to both literally and symbolically mirror the view.
As well as the collection of paintings, a selection of pewter dishes, plates and paperweights by Melanie Guy are also on display.
