Jenny Eden’s thoughtful abstract paintings employ fine-tuned palettes and painstaking processes to draw the viewer in, inviting and rewarding sustained consideration.
About
Illusion and allusion within and beyond the frame offer multi-faceted, layered relationships with colour, content and form, as each aspect of composition and performance is revealed.
Jenny’s first exhibition since beginning MA studies at Manchester School of Art opens at The Portico Library on Monday 2nd November, with a free launch event on Thursday 5th from 5pm to 8pm. Her reflective paintings, dealing with contemporary themes and concerns, will be presented, available to buy, in the newly renovated gallery space of the 19th century library. Recently interviewed by Terry Greene for Corridor8, and having previously achieved degrees in Fine Art and Art Psychotherapy, Jenny engages intensely with her medium and draws on her understanding of psychoanalysis, art history and contemporary theory. Advocating the power and potential of abstract painting, these works illuminate the substance beyond the surface and ask us to delve further into their construction and content.
The Portico Library is a historic subscription library and gallery space in Manchester city centre. A changing programme of exhibitions and events complements the 200-year-old collection, and visitors can enjoy a meal or drink in our cafe/bar Monday to Saturday and discover more at www.theportico.org.uk
