For the first time the works of constructivist artist Jean Spencer will be exhibited in the Redfern gallery.
About
The work in this exhibition reflects over almost all of Spencer's artistic career. We begin with her white systematic reliefs and come to a very vibrant end with her systematic colour paintings. Spencer's rigorous mathematical constructions on paper show not only strong guided boundaries but also are extremely sensitive and intimate in their nature.
A fully illustrated catalogue is available to accompany the exhibition, which also includes an abstract by Redfern artist John Carter and an introductory essay by art critic Alan Fowler.
