Landscape painting by Jane Human together with vivid colour fused glass by Ruth Shelley
About
As part of the Holt Summer Festival (22-30th July), we are delighted to be showing paintings/prints by Jane Human and vivid colour vessels in fused glass by Ruth Shelley.
Jane Human is a painter and printmaker whose origins are in the East Anglian fens and whose main focus is the interpretation of landscape, space and boundaries. Her interest is primarily in the sense of place and response to experiences of being immersed in a particular environment rather than to specifically record its topography.
Ruth Shelley specialises in contemporary glass design using vivid, dramatic colours in kiln formed glass. Much of her work is inspired by her love of travelling; observation of the beautiful horizons and dramatic shapes and forms of landscape and coastline.
Through layered glass Ruth creates a dialogue of lines, patterns and colour. Ruth always observes how the colours and layers combine as a whole, and how light illuminates them.
