Richard James Savile Row is pleased to announce an exhibition of sculpture by British artist Jamie Fitzpatrick to inaugurate the store’s contemporary art program curated by Milan-based art advisor Helen Varola.
About
Fitzpatrick’s bold rhetoric of image-making reverberates theatrically at Richard James’ stage-like glass frontages on Savile Row and Clifford Street with two large sculptures that debut in London: “he he he he (The Warrior)” and “Your Wives are at home having sex with Bart Simpson and Burt Reynolds.” Fragmented and broken, the works are recognisable for their visceral and energetic manipulation of sloppily applied waxy materials, built out of footprints, fists, and deep finger gouges that come together to create lumpen monumental figures rife with the traces of their own making.
Richard James Savile Row is an extension of the Richard James New York art program launched in 2020 and hosts four exhibitions per year with London area artists who use design as an extension of their practice. Presented in the storefront windows in Saville Row, projects reflect Richard James' radical approach to pushing boundaries of classic design, cut and colour and aim to provoke the senses, instigate curiosity in passersby and contribute to the cultural experience of the street.
