Man Made Fibres
Man Made Fibres is a series of textile works presented by Lancaster based artist James Fox. James uses reverse appliqué with freehand machine embroidery techniques to create the hangings. He takes visual stimulus from editorial publications to create his unique compositions. The work reflects connections between religious iconography, advertising styles and evocative symbols. James combines serious subject matter in an original and humorous manner with masculine and feminine stereotypes juxtaposed within the images and fabric.
