About

Internationally acclaimed artist Thomas Hirschhorn will present his first ever solo exhibition in a UK public art gallery at Dundee Contemporary Arts this autumn. It's Burning Everywhere will be open to the public from Saturday 19 September until Sunday 29 November at DCA, as part of our tenth anniversary programme. Hirschhorn is best known for producing exceptional works combining everyday materials such as cardboard, tin foil, mannequins, strip lights, clothing and parcel tape with found images and text to make reference to a philosophical, cultural or political point of view. Hirschhorns' overwhelming and sometimes controversial approach has won him worldwide recognition and several prestigious awards. Hirschhorn will also re-present Substitution 2 (The Unforgettable) in DCA's smaller gallery. This work was originally shown at Stephen Friedman Gallery, London in 2007. Also on display will be his powerful Ur Collages which counterpoint found images from fashion with often horrific scenes of carnage from war-zones.
