24 artists have been selected by Mark Titchner for this year’s highly anticipated Bow Open Show, which presents a curated selection of the charity’s studio and education artists annually.
About
With over 500 artists across Bow Arts’ 13 London studio sites, the exhibition is a celebration of some of the most exciting artists working in London today.Titchner – who is known for his attention-grabbing quasi-slogans, such as I WANT A BETTER WORLD, I WANT A BETTER ME – has made a selection that vibrates with a call to action, with artworks that grapple with very current issues. The public mood of escapism is embodied in Will Reid’s milky bloodless character in Head in the sand (I can’t look anymore), while Marcus Orlandi’s Everything is Bloody Awful So I Made You this Hapless Rainbow colours feelings of helplessness with nostalgic rainbows of paper-mâché. Invitation to a Rave – the title borrowed from exhibiting artist Lena Brazin’s brilliant oil painting – features painting, photography and sculpture and is not to be missed.
