Painter Mark Lodge shares beautiful new works from his inspirational travels to Japan, China and Switzerland. Find them at Skylark Galleries 2 OXO Tower from 23 October.
About
Mark Lodge travelled widely this past 12 months with voyages to Japan, China and Switzerland as well as London all impacting and inspiring this new body of work.
Mark notes that he discovered a myriad of inspirational people and places in his travels --from "Japan, land of the rising sun and Omotenashi: the wonderful feeling of hospitality to China's great civilisation with its immense diversity of culture and landscape."
Mark also spent time in the Swiss Alps this past summer, painting outdoors in the mountains at nearly 3000 metres. He noted it "can be quite challenging: the last snows of winter, the heat from the sun triggering spinners that dump dust -- which is especially annoying after you’ve just painted a sky and the paint is still wet and gusts of wind that come out of nowhere. But the scenery is amazing, as are the people you meet from every corner of the globe."
London is included in this body of work: Mark's favourite place for inspiration in London is by the river Thames "by day or night."
Mark's favourite painting medium is oil paints and his style has developed using perspective, light and shade to give a three dimensional feeling to his work.
We look forward to welcoming you to Skylark Galleries 2 at OXO Tower and showing you Mark's inspiring new works.
