The exhibition Inquieto Tempo by Chinese artists Zhi Hongbo and Guo Lin, curated by Emanuele Gregolin and Pengpeng Wang.

About

We want to tell with this exhibition, a new story, a new path, on the theme of Inquieto Tempo. Exhibition occasions are always a journey, a profound journey that is accomplished by standing almost still, ready to observe sequences that tell different stories: in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, the form of video or performance. The works we present on the occasion of this new exhibition are photographic works created by Chinese artists Zhi Hongbo and Guo Lin.

It is certainly the body, the main protagonist of the photographs that we show here for the first time in A60 Contemporary Art Space Florence. The body and the figure are here told within some environments that have "ended" their lives but that through the presence of men actually tell symbolic stories that sink into the chiaroscuros of today's existence, in a tale that is a bridge between history and contemporaneity.

Is freedom the point of arrival, the point of respite and pause sought by the figures living in these photographic works?

Zhi Hongbo seems to have subtracted the forms represented by filmic scenes, dynamic settings in which the different characters experience the contrast of time, placed in places that cannot protect them: inhospitable interiors, improbable rafts where man does not appear safe, but there is a sense of movement in these air-crossed images. Zhi Hongbo shapes dreams, after all, capable of creating in the viewer's eye the thrill of escape. Guo Lin exacerbates Zhi Hongbo's vision even more as the female body sustains profound humiliations through a register that appears surreal at times, in the relentless use of black and white. The "non" color gives some details an intriguing strength and elegance through the skillful use of light: it is the detail that enhances, captures the form, stuns, and leads one to read these stories made up of images that recite at times with mocking irony, full of questions that speak of our restless times.
