Marta Bakst presents a new body work in her first solo show at Eleven Spitalfields. A meditative space where notions of loss and desire, inherently bound to the photographic image, are pierced by elements of play and spontaneity. Thematic and visual connections merge images into each other and a subtle strangeness is created. Drawing on distinctions between digital and analogue processes and the sense of the material life of an image.
Marta Bakst studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art and at Chelsea College of Art.
Recent exhibitions include Print Now at Bearspace Gallery, Resort at The Residence and Itchy Scratchy at Permanent Gallery, Brighton.
Last year she exhibited as part of the Photomonth 2009, East London Photography Festival at The Box Gallery.
