In Memory of Loving
In Memory of Loving is a body of work exploring ethereality, the temporary & permanent, heaven & earth, soul & body, love and loss, life & death.
The Heaven & Earth photograph series is most indicative of these themes - depicting angel figures in stone form, creating a dichotomy of real and unreal.
A running thread in this work is the intrinsic human tendency to preserve and make sacred temporary encounters, emotions and experiences, be this through ritual, religion, or even the laying of flowers, often a symbol of temporary beauty and inevitable decay.
The sonic performance is gathering of our musical influences, running parallel to the imagery in the exhibition as an ephemeral experience of sound and stillness. The piece embodies the theme of the exhibition, as only existing within a space at a certain time, then to only exist within the memory.
