About
The In Between Gallery is a temporary gallery space in the Fabrica window showing contemporary photography between our main exhibition programme. For the past five years Fabrica has put out an open call inviting early to mid-career photographers to submit their work for consideration. This year's winner, Vera Hadzhiyska, was selected in partnership with Spectrum Photographic, Photo Fringe and Loupe Magazine.
‘Yellow dress’ (2019) is from a larger series of work entitled “With the Name of a Flower” (2017 -2019). The project investigates the forced name changes of the Muslim population in Bulgaria between 1912 and 1989, and its impact on people’s lives and identity.
Yellow Dress is now on display on street level, and can be safely enjoyed from outside the gallery right in the heart of Brighton.
