AboutLighthouse is delighted to present a conference that shows how artists and designers are working with digital technologies to radically re-engineer and retool the world we exist within. It will examine how the current generation of makers is not only attempting to augment reality, but rather to go one step further, and *improve* reality, through innovative, surprising, playful and critical projects.
It brings together a range of thinkers from the technology, film, education and art worlds. Confirmed speakers include:
- Julian Oliver, artist & critical engineer: http://selectparks.net/~julian
- Matt Adams, Blast Theory: http://www.blasttheory.co.uk
- Matt Hanson: filmmaker, writer & creator of A Swarm of Angels: http://matthanson.net
- Alice Taylor: blogger, founder of MakieWorld & former Commissioning Editor of Education at Channel 4: http://wonderlandblog.com
And there'll be many more to announce soon.
In an inspiring day of talks Improving Reality will explore questions like:
How are artists shifting our perceptions of place and time through augmented reality?
How are artists and designers shifting our ideas about what cinema can be?
How are artists and designers using games and play to radically change social and cultural reality?
