Isobel Smith, Jo Lamb and Emma Carlow will be sharing works made during their imagined residency in Japan. Made possible by a very generous and utterly fictitious Fondamento Dello Scherzo.
About
Three Sussex artists, Isobel Smith, Jo Lamb and Emma Carlow have returned
from an imagined residency in the wilds of Japan.
Inspired by yokai, mythical monsters from Japanese folklore, Isobel is in a
mythical forest attempting to catch yokai and make live prints of them as
absolute proof of their existence. Jo Lamb’s ‘Fluffy’ has set off, torch in hand,
wearing a ‘Fluffy Badge of Courage’ to look for the Rabbit on the moon.
Emma, through her research into the monsterful side of Japanese folklore, is
only too aware of the physical and psychological danger her colleagues are
in, and is busy creating powerful talismen, spells and special instruments to
keep everyone safe. All artefacts will be available for sale.
Open Thursday - Sunday 10:30 - 4.30
