A leaf, a net, a bag, a sack, a rag, a knot, two packets of soil, a ball with a dent,
a pebble with a stripe that matches the dent in the ball.
About
The rubble that becomes part of our collections: brittle, foamy, glittering. The sensory associations invoke curious desire and a sensual intimacy: minutiae, the exactness of colour and the discrepancies that make experience lively.
“You see landscape. In crumpled edges, crumbs and unironed sheets, where dust succumbs to gravity’s pull. A domestic geology emerges from your surroundings and is woven, pressed and knotted.”
“And you, you read your surroundings like a conscientious absorbing. You redact, pulp and inverse. Scrubbed posters and tarpaulin scraps retell a story of green, glossy red, peach, bound in orange and hung from silver.”
“You drove past three times before deciding to stop”
“And you dragged that all the way to your studio”
I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.
