About

I am Making Art

These monthly activity sessions are led by artists and take place in the Spike Island Café. Visitors of all ages and abilities can try out new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture and animation and are invited to drop in any time during the session.

Demi Insall

Demi Insall (b. Birmingham, 1992) collects data through observational, scientific and photographic methods. Her work is a combination of this gathered data and a systematic arrangement of the results. Using print, photography and sculpture she documents the relationship between time and sunlight, responding to our environment and differences in daylight hours.

Graduating in 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Applied Arts, Demi went on to receive the 2015-16 Peter Reddick Bursary Award from Spike Print Studio, where she remains a member.

Olivia Jones

Olivia Jones (b. London, 1988) considers how we perceive and comprehend structures within our environment through drawing, print and sculpture. By altering structural realities to conjure up idiosyncratic spaces, she articulates a connection between real and imagined landscapes.

Graduating in BA (Hons) Fine Art at Falmouth University in 2013, Olivia is a current studio holder at Spike Island and a member of Spike Print Studios. Her most recent exhibitions include Contemporary British Drawing, Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, China and You Move Me, Antlers Gallery, Create Centre, Bristol.
